I was recently asked by someone why I’m writing so much now about my stories. I think the answer to that question requires a response here.
There are 3 reasons I’m writing so much:
My health issues. There are things I need to share now. I want to leave something for my sons, future grandchildren, and future great-grandchildren about who I am through my stories. This is something I’ve been planning to do for some time, but I’m just feeling more of a sense of urgency to make it happen now. I knew my maternal grandfather, I have stories about Papa I lived firsthand. There is so much more I wish I would have asked him about his life. Same with my paternal grandmother, I knew mama Sallie but there is so much about her life as a child, and later as an adult that I don’t know about and wish I did. I never knew my maternal grandmother, she died before I was born. My paternal grandfather, I only have but a few strong memories of daddy Henry as he died when I was very young. I also have so much I would have liked to have known about my parents. There are some things we don’t think to ask when we have them and they usually become, the oh, “I’ll get around to asking them about that someday.” Someday often comes quickly and when we’re least expecting it. So, don’t wait for someday, make someday, today. I mentioned this in an earlier article.
There are some things I do that make me feel alive, writing is one of those. I’ve found when dealing with a life-threatening health issue, engaging in certain activities that allow me to channel my energy into creative endeavors keeps me focused on my healing and sticking to my passions and missions.
All of my writing and eventual podcasts here won’t just be about My Life Stories, you’re going to get a fair amount of my independent diverse thoughts, ideas, commentaries, and even a short true fiction story that may turn into a book when I’m finished. I have lots of intentions and need your help, love, and support to make it happen.
I’m really pleased you guys are coming along for the ride. Thank you, B. Kevin.
